DC Coast Restaurant
The nation’s
capital welcomed DC Coast as a breath of fresh air when it opened nearly
nine years ago, and has made it a Washington institution ever since. Executive
Chef Jeff Tunks and his partners, award-winning restaurateurs Gus DiMillo and
David Wizenberg, conceived a chic, comfortable atmosphere in which impeccable
service meets first-class cuisine. The restaurant, the sleek interior of which
reflects its situation in Washington’s first Art Deco office building, is
credited with reviving its downtown neighborhood. Tunks’ culinary inspirations
for DC Coast’s innovative menu are the various coastal regions where he’s
developed his signature dishes: mid-Atlantic, Gulf Coast, and West Coast/Pacific
Rim. His engaging, modern-American cuisine is supported by Chef de Cuisine
Travis Timberlake, and has been richly honored in the press: DC Coast was
named Best New Restaurant in Washington by Esquire magazine; has been on
Gourmet magazine’s list of “America’s Best Restaurants;” was included
among Bon Appétit’s “Our Favorite Restaurants;” and continues to garner
the praise of critics and grateful Washingtonians alike. Tunks was named
Washington’s Chef of the Year for 2003-2004, and the three partners were named
Restaurateurs of the Year by Washingtonian magazine in 2005.
